Why the Story Matters
At Swastha Lanka, we believe that true wellness (Swastha) starts from the ground up. For decades, our local farmers have guarded ancient, sustainable farming secrets. By bypassing toxic chemicals and returning to nature's rhythm, they aren't just growing food—they are healing our land and securing a healthier future for Sri Lanka.
Here are the people who make our mission possible.

Mr. Hemantha
Soil Restoration, Thick-Stemmed Rice Culture, & Natural Pest Management
On a half-acre test plot, Saranapala took a courageous step away from chemical-heavy farming practices to join hands with the Swastha Lanka movement. Prior to this, years of synthetic fertilizer use had stripped his fields, leaving behind degraded, sandy dirt. By integrating targeted organic compost and natural field management guidelines over a full season, he witnessed an incredible ecological turnaround: his sandy soil transformed back into nutrient-dense, rich earth, while his paddy crops grew noticeably thicker, stronger stems with larger seed clusters. Even when common agricultural pests like leafhoppers appeared, he successfully eradicated them using chemical-free, natural water management techniques.
In His Own Words:
"When we feed the soil naturally, the soil feeds us medicine, not just food. I want our children to know what real, powerful rice tastes like."
Mr. Saranapala (Polonnaruwa/Dry Zone Region)
Sustainable Paddy Cultivation & Eco-Friendly Soil Restoration
A passionate farmer dedicated to shifting paradigms, Saranapala chose to pioneer a new path rather than stick to conventional chemical farming. On his half-acre test plot, he integrated modern sustainable soil science with traditional Sri Lankan agricultural wisdom. His passion is demonstrating that chemical-free paddy farming can dramatically restore degraded sandy soil, produce thicker crop stalks, and remain highly productive and economically viable for standard local farmers over consecutive seasons.
In His Own Words:
"When we add compost to the fields, the sandy ground turns back into rich, living soil. The crop grows stronger and the grain heads come out heavier—proving we can successfully manage our fields naturally without chemical poisons."
